So, it’s been AGES since I actually went to a gym and worked out.
(Those of you who have seen me in the past several years will have NO problem believing that, I’m sure!)
A few of the Moms in our “Toddler Posse” had been looking into gyms locally. They checked out the Rec Center, the YMCA and the “Big Gyms”, and said none could come close to the awesomeness and the bang for your buck that is our local Jewish Community Center.
Brian and I went with Liam to tour it Monday evening, and were floored – it really is gorgeous, and everyone there is ridiculously nice. (They don’t seem to mind a bit that we’re “papists” – haha!) We left with Trial Passes for five days, and today I went with my buddy Jeanne to work out. I can’t believe how great it felt to excercise – not to mention to have an hour to myself, just for ME. (Tell me again why I’ve been resisting this for so long?)
The membership includes three hours of Childcare daily – I have no idea what I would do in a gym for three hours that wouldn’t send this out of shape gal straight to the ER, but I guess eventually I’ll get there. The kids Playroom is great – a huge climby-thing with tunnels, three rooms of toys, and I’m pretty sure I saw an HD tv with “Finding Nemo” playing…Liam had a blast. He was there for about an hour with his buddy Jasmine and one other toddler, and there were two attendants watching them. Not only did he not mind when I left, I’m not sure he wanted to leave when I came back!
On the way home in the car, Liam asked repeatedly when we were going back to the gym to play.
I told him we’d be back tomorrow.
